Giancarlo was born and raised in Rome Italy where he learned to fly at Urbe airport. In 1965 at the age of 17 he obtained a private license a month before his birthday, and a commercial license two years after that.

Giancarlo joined the Italian Air Forces in 1968. He was then assigned to S.V.B.I.E. Flight Training School at Alghero, Sardinia, where he flew the T6. He earned his military pilot wings in 1969.

After discharge, with honor, from the Air Force he was hired in year 1970 by ATI

(Alitalia Group) as a copilot on FK 27 and Dc 9 till 1979 when he was nominated Captain, then Flight Instructor

(TRI) and Check Captain (TRE) on Dc 9 and MD 80.

Giancarlo left ATI in late 1989 after that he worked for several airlines; Air Europe Italy, Blue Panorama, East African, Livingston, Air Italy. During this period of time, he held positions as: Ground & Flight Instructor (TRI) and Check Captain (TRE) on B 757-ER, B767-ER, B777-ER, A 321, A 330, ETOPS & Flight Safety Manager, Chief Pilot, Head of Training, Post Holder Flight Operation (PFO), Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Air Italy Poland.

Giancarlo retired from the airline business and continued his flying as Head of Flight Training Organization (ATO) at Biella airport till year 2018.

Giancarlo is an ATPL rated, CRI instructor pilot with over 19000 hours of flight time logged in several types of airplanes and helicopters and 3000 hours of flight training simulator.

Giancarlo has been flying, and maintaining the T-6 Texan for 11 years.
